emPOWER Equine Assisted Services is a leader in a unique therapy experience using horses as part of a team to help people find understanding, new solutions and empowerment.
We help children, adolescents, adults, families, and groups meet their therapy goals, just as they might in an office, but outside with horses. All activities are done on the ground and no horse experience is necessary.
Mission: emPOWER seeks to provide trauma-informed equine assisted services to the community, individuals, and families to empower, establish healthy relationships, and enhance self advocacy.
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is a form of experiential psychotherapy to help promote emotional growth and learning. Sessions are done on the ground and are facilitated by a mental health practitioner, an equine specialist, and horse(s). EAP is effective with for a large variety of identified therapeutic goals. Sessions can be conducted with individuals, families or groups.
Equine Assisted Learning
Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) uses horses to promote learning to teams or individuals. EAL sessions are hands on and take place on the ground. The focus can be on learning, personal or professional development, and/or team building. Like EAP, all EAL sessions are facilitated by a mental health practitioner, an equine specialist, and horse(s).
The Eagala Model
Eagala is an international organization to train and support EAP/EAL professionals. The Eagala model is a team based approach between a mental health practitioner, equine specialist, and horse(s). Sessions are all ground based and participants are encouraged to be solution focused. Eagala practitioners follow a code of ethics to ensure quality services.
"Horses are incredibly forgiving. They fill in places we're not capable of filling ourselves."
